• Engages in negotiating commercial terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers while consulting with operations, legal department, and senior management.
• Cultivates and maintains professional relationships both internally and externally.
• Upholds and supports published project policies.
• Undertakes additional assignments as directed by management.
• Actively participates in the close-out of agreements with subcontractors and vendors.
• Ensures effective knowledge transfer upon contract execution, aiding the operations team in comprehending the subcontract's terms and the roles and obligations of all parties involved.
• Assists in the development and promotion of sound contracting practices following the company’s subcontract management plan.
• Maintains constant communication with the field and attends meetings as necessary.
• Ensures adherence to the terms and conditions of the subcontracts and the Prime Contract. Assists in resolving commercial issues with subcontractors and reviews draft correspondences from the operations team. Supports the team in reviewing subcontractor requests for contract adjustments.
• Monitors the flow of formal correspondences between the company and subcontractors, ensuring timely responses are provided.
• Identifies and reports commercial issues with subcontractors to the Owner within the required notification period.
• Maintains project records diligently.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or a related field is necessary.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in negotiation, contract management, or construction purchasing is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation.
• Capable of identifying, tracking, and effectively communicating project plan steps and actions.
• A team player with the capacity to work independently, meeting strict deadlines, goals, and objectives.
• Experience with JD Edwards E1 World is advantageous.
• Knowledge and background in heavy civil engineering design is preferred.
• Familiarity with heavy civil construction.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and with precision.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
