Senior Project Engineer – Transportation

Join our client, a growing organization focused on innovative engineering solutions for transportation infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and manage construction inspection activities for various transportation projects. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on infrastructure development while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

 


Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

 


•    Lead and supervise construction inspection activities for transportation projects including roadways and bridges.
•    Maintain effective communication with clients and contractors to ensure project timelines and contract specifications are met.
•    Estimate manpower requirements, schedule, and assign tasks to meet project deadlines.
•    Oversee the work of field inspection teams, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
•    Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct significant construction projects with complex scopes.
•    Engage in business development efforts and nurture existing client relationships.
•    Mentor junior engineers and foster their professional growth.
•    Contribute to the development and implementation of new strategies to enhance engineering capabilities.
•    Stay updated on industry trends and advancements, recommending program improvements as necessary.

 


Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:

 


•    Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, Structural Engineering, or a related field; a Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
•    At least 12 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection.
•    Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
•    Willingness to travel up to 20% for projects.
•    Valid driver’s license.
•    Preferred: experience as a Senior Project Engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
•    Preferred: Florida PE license.
•    Strong knowledge of construction management techniques and software.
•    Understanding of federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
•    Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
