Now, they are on the lookout for a Senior Interconnection Project Engineer who will take charge of strategically analyzing interconnection procedures and queues, guiding the placement of greenfield projects. To skillfully navigate the interconnection journey, securing the most favorable terms possible in the form of an Interconnection Agreement. This role serve as a vital support to the DG Manager, Interconnection, propelling assigned projects forward through the interconnection process. Collaborating cross-functionally with the dynamic development team and other SMEs, they skillfully optimize the project's position at every stage of the development lifecycle.
• Support greenfield development, including reviewing transmission system analysis, identifying interconnection agencies and procedures, and preparing and filing interconnection requests.
• Provide feedback on project viability to the DG Manager and other internal customers, assisting in financial and project approvals.
• Present new ideas and opportunities for strategic endeavors.
• Lead and support the review and analysis of utility study reports, tracking and reporting results, and translating technical information for non-technical teams.
• Lead negotiations and execution of Generation Interconnection Agreements and Engineering and Procurement agreements.
• Assist internal groups in completing work required by Interconnecting Utility for interconnection facility construction, integrating schedules into project construction schedule.
• Support and lead project due diligence efforts, identifying red flags for project acquisitions and existing pipeline projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of work experience in renewable or traditional energy development, utility generation development, or distribution/transmission planning. Preference given to candidates with previous employment or experience in Electric Utilities or consulting firms operating in those areas.
• Proficient in reviewing interconnection studies and power flow models, with a bonus if experienced in running study models.
• Capable of analyzing power flow and System Impact Studies (SIS) for interconnecting utility scale solar, wind, and storage generating facilities.
• Acquired knowledge of SIS and other interconnection studies and procedures for renewable energy projects through driven bidding and/or mergers and acquisitions.
• Understanding of electrical diagrams, preliminary site plans, and preparation of interconnection request packages for submission.
• Familiarity with distribution and transmission systems and their operations in the United States.
• Knowledgeable about Generator Interconnection Procedures across the United States.
• Familiarity with utility regulation, public utility investigative dockets, competitive bid rules/tariffs for renewable energy acquisition, and performance requirements for power purchase agreements.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
