Senior Ecological Risk Assessor

We are searching for a dedicated and experienced Senior Ecological Risk Assessor to join our client, a leading specialty environmental consulting firm. This role offers the opportunity to work with a team of experts across multiple countries, delivering innovative solutions to complex environmental challenges. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):

 


•    Lead site-specific ecological risk assessments for contaminated sediment investigations.
•    Conduct and oversee data analyses, including wildlife dietary modeling and ecotoxicity data review.
•    Prepare screening-level and baseline ecological risk assessment reports.
•    Support risk-based remedial decision-making and derive remedial goals.
•    Advocate for technical findings with state and federal regulators.
•    Design and implement long-term monitoring programs for remedy effectiveness.
•    Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.
•    Supervise and mentor a team of ecological risk assessment professionals.
•    Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams on environmental impact assessments and NRDA.
•    Implement rigorous quality assurance processes in risk assessment methodologies and reporting.
•    Identify and pursue new business opportunities, assisting in proposal and presentation preparation.

 

 


Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role: 

 


•    Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in biology, chemistry, ecology, environmental science, toxicology, or a related field.
•    Over 12 years of experience in ecological risk assessment.
•    Proven track record in managing successful projects.
•    Demonstrated leadership and management abilities, including mentoring and developing team members.
•    In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and environmental legislation.
•    Additional certifications or advanced training in relevant areas is desired.
•    Experience with large-scale, high-profile ecological risk assessment project is preferred
•    Active participation in industry workgroups or technical committees is preferred
•    Published work or presentations in peer-reviewed journals or conferences is desired.
•    Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
