Are you ready to take on a leading role in Civil and Structural Engineering for electrical substations? Our client, a dynamic and growing company in the energy sector, is seeking a skilled professional to join their team as a Senior Civil/Structural Technical Lead. This is a fully remote position with travel required.
• Lead civil and structural engineering tasks with minimal to moderate guidance in support of electrical substation design.
• Design structural steel, structure anchorage, and concrete foundations, generating detailed plans.
• Develop structural analysis models and design steel structures and equipment support foundations using in-house tools for analysis and drawing creation.
• Perform general civil/structural engineering analysis and design, including AutoCAD drafting and other assigned duties.
• Prepare calculation reports and packages, review steel fabrication shop drawings, and evaluate construction submittals.
• Execute structural steel and concrete analysis, design, and detailing for transmission and distribution electrical substations up to 345kV.
• Review and produce civil/structural design drawings, including Site Plans, Grading and Drainage Plans, Foundation Plans, and Oil Containment Plans.
• Progress towards an autonomous level of responsibility under the supervision of a registered Senior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer licensure or EIT certification with plans to obtain PE license within 2 years.
• At least 2-4+ years of civil/structural substation design engineering experience, preferably at an engineering consulting firm (higher levels of experience will be considered).
• Proficiency with RISA 3D, L-Pile, Civil 3D, EnerCALC, and AutoCAD is preferred.
• Familiarity with standard building codes, including IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and AWS.
• Knowledge of ASCE 113, NESC, or IEEE standards is a plus.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% within the continental U.S.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
