Project Developer

They are currently seeking a Project Developer who will have a crucial role in advancing renewable energy projects throughout North America. This role involves working closely with a range of stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, to overcome development obstacles, overseeing project finances, and coordinating teams to ensure smooth project implementation.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

 


•    Take charge of project development from its inception until the commencement of construction.
•    Act proactively to identify and resolve any project-related challenges that may arise.
•    Prepare annual development budgets for projects located in various areas.
•    Efficiently coordinate project-specific tasks, including securing permits, managing project communications, overseeing design and engineering, and handling procurement and construction reviews to ensure a seamless transition into the construction phase.
•    Collaborate effectively with internal departments at the company and oversee the efforts of external consultants to drive project progress and guarantee successful outcomes.
•    Utilize diverse siting tools to identify and assess potential locations for renewable energy projects that align with the company's overall pipeline goals.
•    Develop, clarify, and manage project scopes and execution plans to ensure projects stay on track. 
•    Provide support in selecting PV/BESS (Photovoltaic/Battery Energy Storage System) technology, initiating procurement efforts, and managing project dependencies to achieve targeted development and construction outcomes, including safety, adherence to timelines, and budget constraints.
•    Lead and manage public consultation and stakeholder engagement efforts with local communities, landowners, government officials, and regulatory bodies at the local, state, and federal levels.
•    Contribute actively to the ongoing improvement of the company’s development principles and identify opportunities to enhance project execution and operational efficiencies.
•    Ensure strict adherence to all aspects of the company’s Health, Safety, and environmental policies, practices, and programs. Administer contracts and agreements with utmost care to minimize the risk of occupational accidents, injuries, and hazards.

 


Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role: 

 


•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
•    A minimum of 3 years of experience in project development and/or project management in renewable power generation, energy storage, or a similar industry.
•    Prior experience in siting and land acquisition, with a willingness to learn standard commercial contract language.
•    Familiarity with dealing with Federal, State, and local regulators, agencies, and regulatory processes.
•    Experience with utility and distributed generation interconnection processes (PJM and MISO experience is a plus).
•    Proven hands-on project management skills and the ability to efficiently support multiple concurrent projects.
•    Successful track record in project development, permitting, stakeholder consultation, and management of external consultants and internal teams.
•    In-depth knowledge of renewable technologies and energy storage.
•    Preferably, an existing network of contacts and partners in the US solar and storage market.
•    Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Project, Word, Excel, SharePoint, GIS/mapping systems, and document management systems.
•    Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
