Principal Water Infrastructure Engineer – Wastewater Systems (Hybrid)

We’re partnering with a well-established, employee-owned engineering consulting firm to hire a Senior / Principal Engineer specializing in wastewater collection systems. This is a high-impact role focused on planning, modeling, and optimizing critical infrastructure that supports growing communities.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Lead technical efforts for wastewater collection system planning and hydraulic modeling
  • Evaluate system performance, capacity, and future infrastructure needs using advanced modeling tools
  • Analyze flow data, population trends, and demand projections to support planning decisions
  • Develop master plans and capital improvement strategies
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and identify system improvements
  • Prepare technical reports, studies, and planning deliverables
  • Review and ensure quality of engineering work across projects
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers on modeling and planning approaches
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support project delivery
  • Engage with clients to present findings and develop practical solutions
  • Contribute to proposals and business development efforts

 

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • PE license required (CA preferred or ability to obtain)
  • 8+ years of experience in wastewater systems and hydraulic modeling
  • Proficiency with tools like InfoWorks, SewerGEMS, or similar
  • Experience with CAD, GIS, and data analysis tools
  • Strong understanding of system capacity, flow analysis, and infrastructure planning
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a team environment
  • Mentorship experience and client interaction preferred
  • Master’s degree is a plus
