Performance Engineer Manager

As a member of the Technical Operations Department, reporting to the Vice President of Asset Management, you'll have the chance to develop and direct fleet-wide processes, strategy, and direction for all performance engineering and digital activities connected to the company's operating assets.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

 


•    Ensure effective management of performance for solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the portfolio.
•    Manage and oversee performance reporting activities.
•    Keep energy models up-to-date for PV and BESS projects.
•    Collaborate with the commercial team to meet the performance modeling requirements of the company.
•    Create performance processes that can be documented to improve operations.
•    Review technical documents and test results to validate actual PV and/or BESS performance.
•    Develop operational reports that include relevant key performance indicators (KPIs)
•    Identify any performance shortfalls and necessary improvements, and work with on-site teams to implement solutions.
•    Provide support for PV and BESS performance testing.

 

 

Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role: 

 


•    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mathematical Science is required.
•    At least 5 years of experience in solar performance engineering is required.
•    Experience in analyzing data to improve fleet performance and reliability is necessary.
•    Experience in identifying and resolving product failures, optimizing plant performance, and directing performance projects with O&M and LTSA providers is required.
•    Knowledge of monitoring and communications protocols, substation equipment and utility meters, battery backup systems and inverters, SCADA, and MET station equipment is required.
•    Successful experience in building and delivering Performance and Engineering functions related to operating PV and BESS projects is necessary.
•    Experience with industry-standard PV modeling software is required.
•    Proficiency in understanding asset design documentation, PV performance modeling, and analysis is necessary.
•    Knowledge of SCADA systems and 3rd party asset management software platforms is required.
•    Management of technical contract scopes and partnerships with third-party providers is necessary.
•    In-depth knowledge of power and renewable energy market dynamics is necessary.
•    Experience in U.S. competitive wholesale electricity markets is preferred.
•    Ability to stay up-to-date with evolving technologies, regulations, and trends that impact the growing adoption of renewable energy.
•    A Master's degree is preferred.
•    Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
