• Ensure timely submission of interconnection applications with comprehensive and required information for various grid operators.
• Manage the review process for interconnection study results to meet the company’s standards and minimum requirements.
• Provide guidance and oversee consultants conducting power flow and other necessary studies to analyze interconnection capacity and project cost impacts.
• Collaborate with regional teams to assess financial implications of interconnection and transmission projects based on rules, tariffs, and physical limitations.
• Play a strategic role in developing standardized interconnection arrangements that reduce installation time and costs while enhancing plant safety.
• Lead and direct the company's regional strategy for Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) related to transmission matters.
• Proactively support project managers with technical assistance throughout the project lifecycle, leveraging previous experience and training.
• Assist in maintaining important grid interconnection register data.
• Represent your area of expertise in relevant development and delivery meetings as required by the company’s.
• Conduct and oversee market research, power flow analysis, and studies on curtailment and congestion impacts on projects.
• Provide insights and guidance on the company's policy regarding transmission losses and curtailment levels specific to projects and RTOs.
• Represent your specialty area in pertinent third-party stakeholder meetings and events.
• Depending on the growth and size of the Transmission Services group, oversee internal reports as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a quantitative field. Alternatively, a degree in Environmental Studies or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• A master's degree in Finance, Electrical Engineering, Business Economics, or Computer Science is preferred.
• Technical knowledge of distribution and transmission grids, as well as familiarity with FERC processes and procedures for interconnection.
• Understanding of equipment options to meet operational requirements related to voltage control, power factor, and other operational metrics.
• Proficient in codes and regulations relevant to solar project construction.
• 5-8 years of experience in transmission planning, generator interconnection, or power system analysis, preferably in utility-scale PV and/or storage projects.
• Proficiency in performing and analyzing power flow study results using software such as PSS/E, PSLF, Power World, TARA, etc.
• Experience in reviewing regional power system studies and system planning assessments.
• General knowledge of tariffs and technical standards applicable to project design and grid interconnection.
• Experienced in engineering utility-scale PV plants.
• Knowledgeable in constructability and feasibility aspects of utility-scale PV projects.
• Familiarity with providing technical inputs for EPC cost estimation modeling.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current PV technology, including major components and supporting balance of systems, as well as market trends.
• Skilled in identifying crucial information in project site technical documents.
• Capable of identifying critical flaws and relevant asset information in diligence documents.
• Familiarity with key third-party providers of diligence, studies, and engineering deliverables.
• Extensive network of contacts across various grid operators in the U.S.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for project site visits and other important meetings.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
