Our client is one of the largest solar and storage companies in the US, and they are keen to hire a talented and highly driven Manager Manager / Director to join their M&A group and assist energy transition projects. This organization effectively develops, builds, and operates solar projects around the country, and it has developed 12 gigawatts of solar energy in more than a dozen states.
An ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, valuation, due diligence, structuring, and finalizing the project and corporate acquisitions in the renewable energy sector, reporting to the Director, Valuation, and M&A. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):
- Manage the acquisition process from start to finish, including multidimensional analysis, valuation, risk analysis, bid recommendation, proposal preparation, transaction structuring, contract formulation and negotiation, and deal completion.
- Coordinate with the Director and Chief Investment Officer to identify and evaluate a project, portfolio, and platform acquisition opportunities, as well as strategic objectives, in the renewable energy sector, with an emphasis on solar and battery energy storage.
- Conduct preliminary technical and economic feasibility analyses on potential acquisitions.
- Lead market intelligence initiatives and provide quarterly reports on industry themes, trends, and competition information.
- Oversee market intelligence initiatives and prepare quarterly updates on industry themes, trends, and competitor intelligence.
- Support development of long-term relationships and channel partnerships
Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- MBA or quantitative master's degree preferred
- Able to manage and lead multidisciplinary internal and external teams
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project finance, development, and/or mergers and acquisitions with a renewable energy developer, investment bank, private equity, infrastructure fund, or advisory firm.
- Successful transaction history, ideally in the solar and/or battery storage sectors
- Comprehensive knowledge of renewable energy project financial fundamentals, including tax equity
- Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
