Our client, a well-established engineering firm specializing in critical infrastructure, is seeking a Lead Structures Engineer to oversee the design and delivery of large-scale bridge and civil structures projects. This opportunity is perfect for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in bridge design, leadership, and project management. This role focuses with responsibilities for managing major projects, mentoring teams, and contributing to business development.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

•    Lead and oversee structural engineering, analysis, and modeling of bridges and retaining walls.
•    Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards.
•    Foster a dynamic and growth-focused team environment.
•    Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent.
•    Review project work to ensure quality and adherence to requirements.
•    Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and plans.
•    Assist with proposals and business development.
•    Collaborate across disciplines for cohesive project delivery.
•    Occasionally travel to client or project sites.

Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
•    Minimum of 15 years of bridge design and structural engineering experience.
•    Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in Virginia.
•    Strong knowledge of regional and national design standards.
•    Experience managing complex, multi-span bridge projects.
•    Proficiency with design software like MicroStation and LEAP Bridge.
•    Familiarity with tools like Bentley OBD and Merlin Dash is a plus.
•    Strong business development and proposal experience.
•    Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
