Our client, a leader in engineering solutions for complex infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Lead Power Systems Engineer. • Conduct comprehensive power system studies, including load flow, overcurrent, and protective device coordination.
• Perform in-depth analyses related to thermal, voltage, and dynamic stability.
• Utilize specialized software such as PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, and ASPEN to model and evaluate power systems.
• Develop and maintain accurate power system model databases for ongoing projects.
• Compile detailed reports, clearly presenting methodologies, results, recommendations, and insights from power system studies.
• Support client relationship development by ensuring clear communication and effective project deliverables.
• Maintain organized records and documentation for each project, backed up according to department standards.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve technical issues, including mentoring less-experienced engineers.
• Actively stay updated with internal news and participate in meetings with team members across the organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience in power systems.
• At least 15 years of experience in power system operations or planning, with a focus on analysis and studies; 20+ years preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience in roles such as Transmission Planning Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, or similar positions.
• Experience with Transmission Planning Studies, including load flow, reliability, feasibility, and generator interconnection.
• Proficiency with power system software tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, and others.
• Familiarity with Independent System Operators (ISOs) and Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs).
• Knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy systems, including wind, solar, and energy storage.
• Familiarity with regional power systems and associated operators.
• Understanding of power system standards and compliance requirements.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and PowerPoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
