Our client is seeking a Lead Microgrid & BESS Applications Engineer to spearhead the design and implementation of cutting-edge microgrid and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. · Collaborating with switchgear manufacturers and other OEMs to develop scalable designs and costing for diverse projects and customer sites.
· Offering significant input into solar, battery, and generator designs to optimize performance, reliability, and sustainability.
· Leading the full life-cycle of BESS and DER project design from conceptualization to system design.
· Interfacing with equipment and technology vendors.
· Working closely with Business Development teams to evaluate and develop appropriate technical solutions.
· Collaborating with execution and commercial teams on specific projects to ensure technically correct, practical, and cost-effective integration of microgrids.
· Managing engineering consultants in the preparation of detailed engineering and construction drawings and specifications.
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems. Advanced courses or higher-level degrees in power engineering are a plus.
· At least 4 years of experience in designing and constructing power/generation/renewable energy projects.
· In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
· Proficiency in creating system-level schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations.
· Experience in conducting factory acceptance tests and on-site commissioning of BESS systems.
· Familiarity with distributed energy technologies.
· Project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
· Understanding of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) within microgrids and their interaction with utilities.
· Knowledge of emissions from both utility and DER sources.
· Proficient in system controls for BESS, DERs, and microgrids.
· Competence in AutoCAD for creating conceptual diagrams and site layouts.
· Experience in submitting interconnection applications and reviewing Utility studies.
· Professional Engineer (PE) license or progressing towards it.
· Desired: 5+ years of experience in renewable electrical/design engineering.
· Desired: Experience with Distributed Generation (DG) or utility-scale BESS system design.
· Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
