Lead Estimator – Transmission & Distribution Projects

As a Lead Estimator, you will lead the estimating efforts for high-profile transmission and distribution projects, guiding teams to provide accurate, credible, and risk-mitigated estimates. You’ll play a key role in shaping project strategies, managing estimating processes, and ensuring that every proposal aligns with both client expectations and company standards. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

 


•    Lead estimating strategy and implementation for construction design-build and EPC projects.
•    Review and validate project schedules and deliverables to ensure feasibility.
•    Manage workload to ensure timely completion of all project estimates.
•    Oversee risk review processes to minimize project risks.
•    Ensure compliance with estimating methodologies for accurate, high-quality estimates.
•    Conduct team reviews to validate project quantities and scopes.
•    Review and approve bonds, insurance quotes, and subcontractor bids.
•    Lead subcontractor solicitation and pre-qualification reviews.
•    Present estimates to both internal and external stakeholders.
•    Finalize estimates before management review and proposal presentations.
•    Guide estimating teams through pre-construction services.
•    Maintain cost history databases and ensure consistency in estimating processes.

 


Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:

 


•    A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
•    At least 7 years of direct experience in project estimation within the construction or energy industries.
•    Proficiency in estimation tools and software such as Microsoft Office, ConEst, and related platforms.
•    Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
•    A creative and analytical mindset with the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure environments.
•    OSHA 10-hour certification is required.
•    Experience leading teams and driving outcomes in fast-paced project settings.
