As part of our continued growth and expansion, we are seeking a talented and experienced General Counsel to join our team and provide legal leadership in the renewable energy sector.

 

Position Overview:

 

As the General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the legal landscape of our renewable energy development projects. You will provide strategic legal guidance to the executive team, oversee the legal department, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all legal aspects of our operations, including project development, regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, and risk management.
 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Legal Leadership: Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to the executive team, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of legal professionals to ensure they are aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Project Development: Oversee the legal aspects of wind, solar, and battery storage project development, including site acquisition, permitting, and land agreements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and maintain strong relationships with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Contract Management:  Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), construction contracts, supply agreements, and other relevant contracts. Ensure these agreements align with the company's interests and protect its legal rights.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with project development, permitting, and ongoing operations.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Provide legal support for potential mergers, acquisitions, or other strategic transactions.
  • Litigation Management: Manage and oversee any legal disputes or litigation matters that may arise.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all projects adhere to environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
  • Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate governance matters and compliance with relevant corporate laws and regulations.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to guide company activities.
     

 

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
  • Minimum of [X] years of legal experience in the renewable energy or related sector.
  • Proven experience in project development, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing legal teams.
  • Excellent negotiation, contract drafting, and dispute resolution skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of renewable energy regulations and environmental laws.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
