Join a U.S. based start-up engineering consultancy that's dedicated to building a supportive, collaborative team while delivering expert engineering services to national and local utilities. They're currently seeking an Engineering Manager with a passion for Transmission Line Engineering to help build and scale a team, manage project delivery, and create a legacy in a fluid, non-corporate environment.
In this role, you'll be expected to work autonomously on fast-paced projects while being able to pivot rapidly based on project demands.
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining strategy for leading the transmission engineering group as they continue to grow and evolve.
• Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within your qualified field of expertise and provide project support when applicable.
• Acting as the Engineer of Record (EOR) to support projects as needed and when appropriate.
• Tracking and reporting team’s performance based on established KPI’s.
• Leading the development of bid packages, work order packages, and other project reports.
• Collaborating with Company’s leadership to develop and achieve goals for the structural engineering team and provide guidance on gaps and improvement to processes and procedures.
• Working with management to develop a robust engineering QA/QC program to assure engineering excellence.
• Mentoring and leading transmission engineering team members in their development and career progression.
• Collaborating with management and Principal Engineers to develop and maintain overall engineering training and development programs.
• Assisting in the annual review of transmission engineering team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• 4 to 8 years of experience in the transmission line engineering field.
• P.E. license or ability to get one.
• Experience in modeling and reviewing full transmission line designs in PLS-CADD software suite (PLS-CADD, POLE & TOWER)
• Knowledge in the design and review of concrete foundation designs (typically drilled piers) using hand calculations and design software such as LPILE, FAD Tools and PLS Caisson.
• Ability to interpret and apply industry codes and standards such as NESC, ACI, ASEC, AISC etc.
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders (internally and externally).
• The mindset to thrive in a remote work environment that leverages telecommunications daily and travel periodically.
• Ability to travel 20-30% of your time.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
