Director of Engineering, East Coast

Are you seeking a position as a leader in a multinational clean energy organization? Our client is actively looking to expand its diverse and innovative team to support its solar PV projects, EV charging station projects, BESS, and other projects. They are a goal-driven organization eager to broaden the range of ideas and methods of operation available to them.

 

This role will provide an opportunity to oversee the engineering due diligence, design, and project engineering of our client's projects during the pre-construction and construction phases, as well as provide engineering feedback for projects in the development stages.

 

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):

 

  • Lead key functional areas with documentation of technical specifications for solar and EV specific equipment and support technical evaluation and due diligence reviews for new large scale and EV projects
  • Coordinate and collaborate with VP of Engineering and Director of Operations and Project Management to streamline coordination, communications, and planning of internal and external Engineering activities with key stakeholders and deliver assets on time, under budget, and in the highest quality possible
  • Supervise, assign and manage internal CAD design, functions, and deliverables in support of pre-construction and construction projects while maintaining quality, cost management, and timeliness
  • Ensure all Federal and state code requirements are met, safety, and contractual obligations are met, implemented into the design and approve all outsourced design Engineering work
  • Liaise and manage relationships with governmental, environmental as well as engineering firms and consultants and also support permitting applications through State and Federal government agencies, submitting and obtaining building permits from Townships.
  • Oversee the project engineering team to ensure document control, technical logistics, communication protocols, submittals, RFI and design reviews are met to a high standard with meticulous attention to detail

 

Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field required
  • More than 5 years of experience in the power generation industry (solar experience preferred).
  • More than 10 years of PV electrical experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in engineering, construction, general contracting, or trade electrical background
  • Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer or M.S. Electrical Engineering and NABCEP certification is a plus
  • Experienced with AutoCAD, PV Watts, PVSYST, Helioscope, and other related software
  • Experienced in project management with commercial and utility-scale PV demonstrating a progressive increase in responsibility for multi-million-dollar, multi-megawatt PV + BESS projects
  • Knowledge of PV systems, components, industry standards, and trends
  • Knowledge of a variety of engineering design and application concepts, practices, and procedures
