As a Development Engineer, you will utilize your specialized knowledge to propose designs and engineering solutions that are technically sound and economically viable to support project development, financing, and construction. Working in a collaborative team environment, you will oversee the technical aspects of various projects, including the interconnection process, managing engineering consultants and contractors, the project EPC Contractor, and evaluating and approving new suppliers based on their technical qualifications. • Work collaboratively with a team to support multiple projects through all stages of development and construction.
• Utilize subject matter expertise to propose technically sound and economically viable designs and engineered solutions.
• Create project site plans and design progress based on publicly available data and surveys specific to the project site.
• Manage technical inputs and process energy yield models for projects.
• Develop project single line diagram and manage technical inputs to the cost estimate.
• Lead the technical aspects of the interconnection process for projects.
• Manage engineering consultants and contractors to support project development.
• Contribute to value engineering and optimization of projects through the creation of design variants.
• Support the development of bid packages and project technical specifications during the EPC contracting RFP and award process.
• Provide technical oversight of the project EPC Contractor, including review of design documents, equipment submittals, and technical RFIs.
• Support the Supply Chain team in evaluating and qualifying new suppliers and equipment at the project level.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university, with EE or another related engineering discipline, MS preferred.
• Possess at least 3-5 years of professional experience in the renewable energy field.
• Knowledge of critical issues related to design, construction, and operations.
• Demonstrate familiarity with battery technologies for utility-scale energy storage projects.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering design requirements in utility-scale solar energy and battery energy storage.
• Exhibit project and case management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines, including contract management.
• Be proficient in AutoCAD systems.
• Be willing to travel up to 10-20% of the time, with some overnight stays required.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
