The Business Development Director (M&A) will lead our clients strategic merger and acquisition initiatives for existing/operating distributed - to small utility scale solar projects, including community solar, greenfield development, and traditional behind the meter solar projects. The desired focus of this position is national and will cover relationships with consultants and institutions soliciting bids for operating assets, in addition to channel partners, developers or clients with operating solar assets to sell.

This role will require a combination of sales and marketing expertise in solar, direct business development experience in the industry, negotiation skills, and working knowledge of programs and frameworks which promote the proliferation of solar at the regional level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and originate business development opportunities
- Communicate business development strategies and sales and marketing targets
- Continuously increase knowledge of addressable markets and players by attending solar conferences and seminars.
- Collaborate with other functional departments within the organisation, including transactions, legal, finance, engineering and construction.
- Establish strategic partnerships with high-value prospects; build trust and rapport with customers, effectively communicate and contract terms, conditions, and project expectations.
- Actively identify new areas of opportunity to increase business development growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in sales and business development roles - experience with solar energy systems and renewable energy sources preferred.
- Battery and storage market knowledge a plus
- Excellent people skills and outgoing personality
- Solid understanding of sales and marketing and business development
- Familiarity with the economic and business concepts relating to the Solar Energy industry.
- Highly resourceful and comfortable working in an unstructured, self-driven environment.
- Successfully handle multiple accounts and projects, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to deal effectively with diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Possess strong interpersonal, analytical, solutions-building, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the designated region.
